Privacy Policy

This notice explains how US Tax Tools (“we”, “us”, “the site”) on ustax.toolspopper.com — a ToolsPopper project — handles data. It applies to all users, with additional rights described for residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws.

1. What we collect

• Calculator inputs — wages, filing status, deductions, and similar figures you type into a tool. These are processed in your browser for the estimate. They are not sent to our servers as financial payloads, and we do not log them for analytics. Results may appear in the page URL (so you can share a link) and may be stored in localStorage on your device if a tool offers that convenience. We do not receive those values on a backend.
• Analytics — when analytics is configured and you consent, we may use Google Analytics 4 (or a similar measurement product) to collect anonymised usage data such as pages viewed, referrer, device type, approximate region, and session duration. See section 3.
• Advertising — when Google AdSense (or similar) is enabled via site configuration, ad partners may set cookies to deliver and measure ads. See section 4.
• Server / edge logs — our host and CDN may log request metadata (IP address, user-agent, referer, timestamp) for a limited period for abuse prevention, security, and debugging.
• Contact email — if you email us, we receive the address and message content you send so we can reply.

2. Your consent and controls

Theme preference (ustax-theme) is stored locally on your device and is not an advertising identifier.

When analytics or AdSense are enabled via site configuration, partner tags may set cookies subject to those providers’ policies. You can block or delete third-party cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com. If we later ship an on-site consent banner and Consent Mode controls, this section will be updated to describe that UI.

We do not currently display a first-party “Cookie preferences” banner. Browser Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals are honoured when a future consent layer is configured to read them.

3. Analytics

If analytics is enabled for this property, it is used to understand aggregate traffic (which calculators are popular, how people find the site). IP addresses are typically truncated or anonymised by the analytics provider before logging. We do not sell calculator input values, and we do not intentionally join analytics records to named individuals.

Provider processing is governed by that provider’s privacy policy (for Google, see Google’s Privacy Policy). Measurement IDs, when live, appear in the site’s public configuration or tag manager — we do not invent placeholder IDs in this policy.

4. Google AdSense and advertising

When AdSense (or another display partner) is enabled with a publisher client ID in our environment, ads may appear in approved placements. Partners use cookies and similar technologies. Under Consent Mode v2 patterns, personalised ads are limited until consent is granted where the banner is active.

You can opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com. Broader industry opt-outs are available at youradchoices.com and optout.networkadvertising.org.

6. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), California residents have the right to:

• know what personal information we collect, use, and share;
• request deletion of personal information collected from them;
• correct inaccurate personal information;
• opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;
• limit use of sensitive personal information (we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through calculators);
• non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

Serving personalised ads through AdSense may constitute “sharing” under CPRA. Blocking advertising cookies in your browser, or opting out via Google’s ad settings, acts as an opt-out of sale/sharing for that purpose. A dedicated on-site “Reject all” banner will be documented here when shipped.

7. Other US state rights

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have rights similar to CCPA: access, deletion, correction, and opt-out of targeted advertising. Use cookie controls where available, or email us at the address above.

8. International transfers

Analytics and advertising data may be processed outside your state or country (commonly by Google in the United States). We do not otherwise operate a separate international transfer of calculator financial inputs, because those inputs stay on your device.

9. Children (COPPA)

US Tax Tools is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Data retention

Edge/server logs are retained according to our host’s defaults (often on the order of weeks). Analytics and AdSense retention follow the provider’s settings and policies. Financial figures you enter into calculators are not retained by us on a server.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, hosting, or applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
